Youth Education Programs

Hands-on programs that connect students to Biscayne Bay through field experiences, classroom learning, and real-world science.

Youth Education Advocacy (YEA) Days

Miami Waterkeeper Youth Environmental Action (YEA) Days provides students with land-based activities filled with hands-on education in which students learn about our natural wonders, threats and how we can protect our South Florida ecosystems.

The unique experience includes water quality testing, conservation and marine science games and activities, learning about and spotting sources of potential pollution, and conducting a community science marine debris clean-up, which contributes to global marine debris research and earns students community service hours.

YEA Days are offered year-round for grades 5 and up, with flexible topics tailored to your group’s goals. Programs typically run from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM and include time for lunch.

Floating Classrooms

Miami Waterkeeper hosts floating classrooms to engage students in hands-on environmental learning and community service. Education and Outreach staff take a group of approximately 15-35 students out on Biscayne Bay aboard a boat.

The unique experience includes water quality testing, exploring life under the surface with an underwater drone, learning about and spotting sources of potential pollution, and conducting a community science marine debris clean-up, which contributes to global marine debris research and earns students community service hours.

Floating Classrooms are offered year-round for grades 5 and up and can be tailored to your group’s needs. Programs typically run from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM and include time for lunch.
