Join Miami Waterkeeper in welcoming our new Water Quality Monitoring Intern, Gabe Thompson! Gabe joined our team in May 2019, and we’re very excited to be working with him!

Gabe was born in Richmond, Virginia and raised in the area. He is currently studying Marine Conservation at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science where he is seeking a Master’s of Professional Science degree. Gabe has always had a love for nature and hopes to make significant contributions in efforts working towards restoring and conserving degraded marine habitats and species.

In 2016, Gabe graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina with a Bachelor’s of Science in Marine Science and an emphasis in Biological Oceanography. His time as an undergraduate student allowed him to explore various topics ranging from biological to physical processes in the marine environment. Later in his undergraduate career, he was able to take a marine conservation class that ultimately sparked his interest in the field and allowed him to realize where his passion lies.

Gabe looks forward to interning as a new member of the MWK team and is excited to assist in the water quality monitoring program where he will gain useful hands-on experience.
