Executive Director and Waterkeeper at Miami Waterkeeper Rachel Silverstein joined the Friends of the Everglades to discuss the causes and aftermath of the massive fish kill that rocked Biscayne Bay in the summer of 2020.

The discussion was hosted by Eve Samples, Executive Director of Friends of the Everglades, and included board members Phil Kushlan and Camila Quaresma-Sharp.

Biscayne Bay has faced staggering levels of pollution from fertilizer, coastal construction, septic failures, sewage spills, and other contaminants. The fish kill during the summer of 2020 had been long-predicted by clean water experts advocating for stronger environmental protections.

Biscayne Bay is central to life in Miami-Dade County, supplying priceless drinking water, commerce, tourism, and fisheries. Join Miami Waterkeeper and support the vital work needed to save Biscayne Bay.
