Miami Waterkeeper and Compass celebrated Earth Day with at 6 PM on April 22nd, 2021! We covered the threats to our Bay and how critical clean water is to our ecosystem and the real estate sector, a major driver of our economy.

Coastal real estate is a major economic driver for Miami’s economy. People, local and new residents, want to live near our beautiful Biscayne Bay. However, if we allow our Bay to continue to be susceptible to human-induced nutrient pollution and other measures that degrade its quality, the real estate market can plummet. That’s why our conversation with Compass was so timely — COVID has brought a lot of people to South Florida from all over the country. But it is important we continue the conversation about “Clean-Water Conscious Living,” with our entire community.

Thanks to Compass, we have created a guide for all homeowners on some best-management practices that prioritize Bay and watershed health.

Big thank you to our partner Compass South Florida and for Madeleine Romanello, for generating a wonderful discussion on how homeowners can become advocates for our watershed!
